Jaroslava Havettová

Jaroslava HAVETTOVÁ (1942, Czech Republic) is a writer, animator and filmmaker. Considered a pioneer of Slovak animation, her films are characterised by a unique, poetic style and deal with themes of destiny, sacrifice and the role of individuals in society. Several of her pivotal works are being screened at IFFR 2023, including Pieseň (1969), a pop-art-influenced music video set to a duet by Helena Vondráčková and Waldemar Matuška. Her short film Údel (1989) won a Silver Bear Award for Best Short Film at Berlin International Film Festival and a FIPRESCI Prize at Krakow Film Festival.
