James R. Connell

James R. CONNELL (1928–2012, USA) was an American filmmaker active in mid-century burlesque. He is best known for co-directing the feature-length B-Girl Rhapsody (1952) together with Lillian Hunt, a cult film now selected for IFFR 2026’s The Future Is NOW focus. Connell worked across revue films and burlesque features during the 1950s, beginning his career as an assistant director.
