Irene Iborra

Irene IBORRA (1976, Spain) is a filmmaker, scriptwriter and stop-motion animator. She holds two MA degrees, one in Scriptwriting for Cinema and TV and one in Direction and Stop-Motion animation. She is co-director of the Citoplasmas Stop Motion animation studio in Barcelona. After their first film, Citoplasmas en medio ácido (2004), Irene has written and co-directed two short films on the theme of food sovereignty and Click (2013), a story for audiences of all ages which combines pixellation and plasticine with Eduard Puertas. She also contributed, both as a scriptwriter and director, to many children’s TV series, such as Contes Célestes (2004). Her works have been selected at many international film festivals, including Annecy and Clermont-Ferrand. In 2024, she completed her first feature film, L’Olívia i el terratrèmol invisible/Olivia and the Invisible Earthquake. Alongside her career as a filmmaker, she also teaches scriptwriting for the Stop-Motion Animation Master’s degree course at the BAU School of Design and the Escola d’Art Massana.
