Ibrahim Karatay

Ibrahim (Ibo) KARATAY (1979, Turkey) moved to the Netherlands at the age of 14. He is a director, scriptwriter and producer, with experience in the artistic and creative development and realisation of films with a theatrical release – both in the Netherlands and abroad. As main producer, as well as co-producer, his films have been screened in the official selections of Cannes Cinéfondation, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, DocuFest International Documentary and Short Film Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival, and International Film Festival Rotterdam, amongst others. One of his recent films as a co-producer, NASIR by Arun Karthick from Tamil Nadu, had its world premiere in the Tiger Awards competition at IFFR 2020, and was subsequently released in more than 18 cinemas in the Netherlands. His debut film as writer/director, Shadow of Violence, was shot in Turkey and premiered at IFFR in 2020. The film was also in the selection of the Golden Calf and the best Debut Competition of the Netherlands Film Festival.
