Evans Chan

Evans CHAN is a New York and Hong Kong-based film critic, librettist and independent filmmaker. He has made more than a dozen fiction and documentary films, which have been screened at the Berlin, Rotterdam and Vancouver festivals, among others. He was the librettist for the opera Datong: The Chinese Utopia, which is based on his documentary Datong: The Great Society (2011). In 1990 Liv Ullman visited Hong Kong, and on that occasion she condemned the deportation of Vietnamese boat people from Hong Kong. Ullman’s v
