Deniz Tortum

Deniz TORTUM (1989, Turkey) is a filmmaker and new media artist. He studied Film at Bard College before enrolling at MIT, graduating in Comparative Media Studies and participating in its Open Documentary Lab. In 2010 he released his first short film, Infinitar, which screened at the Istanbul International Short Film Festival. Zayiat (2013), his first feature, was nominated for an Audience Award at SXSW Film Festival. In 2017, he co-directed the short documentary If Only There Were Peace with Carmine Grimaldi. The film won Best Short Documentary at Dokufest. His VR film Floodplain (2018) premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
