Andreas Fontana

Andreas FONTANA was born in 1982. After a degree in Comparative Literature at the University of Geneva, he moved to Buenos Aires where he worked as an interpreter and translator.

In 2010, he completed a Master’s degree in filmmaking between the ECAL (Lausanne) and the HEAD (Geneva). His short film Cotonov Vanished (2009) received the First Steps Award at the Visions du Réel festival in Nyon 2010 and the Best Short Film Award at the Festival dei Popoli, Florence 2010. His short film Pedro M, 1981 was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize 2016 in the category Best Short Film.

His debut feature Azor (2021), about a Swiss banker in junta-era Argentina, was met with widespread acclaim.
