Internship IT
International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) presents a leading film festival and year-round programme. We support new and adventurous filmmaking talent, also beyond the screening room, through initiatives such as CineMart, the Hubert Bals Fund, Rotterdam Lab and other industry activities.
In January each year, we bring together emerging and established filmmakers and artists from around the world to showcase a visionary programme of independent films, talks, exhibitions, performances, installations, immersive media and more. IFFR attracts over 300,000 visits to screenings and events annually. We also organise a range of film-related activities throughout the year, with our Filmclub and other collaborations with Rotterdam-based partners.
In January/February 2027, we will celebrate the 56th edition of our 11-day festival, and we are looking for an enthusiastic intern to join our IT department. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience at one of the largest festivals in the Netherlands!
About the internship
The IT department is diverse, dynamic and serves as the central hub for other departments, providing primarily support for hardware and software. The atmosphere is relaxed, and while we work hard, there’s also room for humour, relaxation and catching films during the festival.

What will you do?
As an IT Systems Administrator intern, you will work under the supervision of our System Administrator, who will be your direct point of contact. You will also support the broader IT team as needed.
In daily practice:
- You will assist the System Administrator with the management and maintenance of the IT infrastructure
- You will help colleagues throughout the year with hardware, software and account questions, and ensure that issues are actually resolved
- You will support the installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance of workstations and laptops
- You will contribute to the management of our data storage, backup systems and equipment inventory – keeping everything organised and secure
- You will draft procedures and documentation to ensure knowledge is retained within the team
- During the festival, you will work alongside the System Administrator and the IT team at various locations throughout Rotterdam, from cinemas to other iconic festival venues. You’ll resolve incidents in real time and ensure everything keeps running when it matters most.
There’s also room for your own project. Do you have a graduation project or research question? Then we’ll work together to find a way to apply it to IFFR’s IT environment.
-
Who are you?
- You are pursuing a degree in IT, systems administration, or a related field
- You have a hands-on approach and are an eager problem solver
- You know how to figure things out on your own and when to ask for help
- IFFR operates internationally and you communicate easily in English
- A film festival is a dynamic environment – you stay calm when things get busy
-
What do we offer?
- A hands-on internship within the IT team for a period of 6 months, 4-5 days per week starting in September.
- An inspiring work environment in the film industry, full of energy and learning opportunities.
