Two very different films in IFFR 2026, Olivier Assayas’ The Wizard of the Kremlin and Jim Jarmusch’s Father Mother Sister Brother, showcase the remarkably supple and expressive work of cinematographer Yorick Le Saux, winner of this year’s Robby Müller Award.
Graduating from La Fémis in 1994, Le Saux began collaborating with François Ozon in 1997, and over ensuing decades formed similarly productive partnerships with Assayas, Jarmusch, Luca Guadagnino and Kornél Mundruczó. Other highlights of his career so far include Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, Claire Denis’ High Life, Steve McQueen’s Blitz and Arnaud Desplechin’s Deception.
The jury for this year’s Robby Müller Award noted: “Yorick Le Saux’s visual language is defined by close observation and a deep attachment to reality, supporting and elevating the story without ever overshadowing it. With a clear sense of rhythm, atmosphere and emotion, he adapts effortlessly to a wide range of genres, narratives and aesthetics.”
During the talk, moderated by film critic and programmer Hugo Emmerzael, Le Saux will discuss his cinematographic approach, his inspirations and some of the highlights from his extensive career.
