When two clueless trust fund kids start a money lending business during COVID-19, they find themselves facing off against a ruthless loan shark mafia boss, who isn’t willing to share his playground.
A wealthy amusement park owner, Ah Long, forces his good-for-nothing adopted sons Aley and Aloy to start their own business. Cut off and disgruntled, they stumble upon a loan shark mafia group (also commonly called ‘ah long’ in Malaysia), whose lavish lifestyle entices them to follow suit and launch their own money lending operation. However, when Lan Panda, the mafia boss (played by filmmaker Afdlin Shauki) picks up the word on the street about his new competition, he makes it his mission to destroy the brothers, and everything they hold dear.
Injecting musical flair into his brand of absurd comedy, Shauki offers a reflection on Malaysia’s social landscape during the pandemic, where paralysed businesses turned to illegal money lenders for a temporary crutch, only to find themselves trapped in long-term terror. Popular comedy duo Johan and Zizan Razak, better known under the portmanteau Jozan, carry this dynamic with spot-on chemistry and quick-witted banter. Expect a rollercoaster ride featuring a blind man playing saxophone on his deathbed, a fight breaking out in a neon-lit virtual fashion show, a Bollywood dance number in a funfair, and even a circumcision subplot.
