Kati Kelli was a woman who died very young and left the world her YouTube channel, Girl Internet Show. It seems important to say this, as the internet is full of personas where artists invent characters for projects, or where non-artists offer shenanigans en chaîne. One might say that in the case of Kati Kelli, the real and the artificial mixed: she created a whole universe of videos showing her doing things, which ranges from the rare unscripted moment of documentary realism, to wondrous performance bits parodying not only the social ordinary but also its ether others like vlogs, to her lone fully-fledged short film. Of course, this is all comedy, satire, jest, in that it is as raw as it can get, and traumatically true. Above all, it is pure potential, as all unfinished artists are. As Kelli herself puts it in one video: "So yeah, like, if you're wondering, like, why am I so drawn to her but why, like – why isn't she good – it's because my talent is so raw that I haven't figured out how to, you know… whatever."
