IFFR Pro Dialogue: Short films, big issues

Event

IFFR 2023

Going beyond non-fiction formats to tell stories of the increasingly confounding and concerning zeitgeist we all live through presents a challenge for filmmakers whose work takes a more nuanced approach to storytelling or that eschews conventional modes of cinematic representation, especially in short films. This panel brings together filmmakers, programmers, distributors and scholars to discuss how short films can tackle such existential issues, where those films can and should be seen and why it is vitally important that they are made.

The panel will consist of Ayoung Kim (director, Delivery Dancer's Sphere – Ammodo Tiger Short Competition), Jérôme Blesson (producer, Last Days of Summer – Ammodo Tiger Short Competition), Mónica Lima (director, Natureza Humana – Ammodo Tiger Short Competition) and Wanda Vanderstoop (distributor, VTape).

Moderated by IFFR programmer Cristina Kolozsvary-Kiss.

Film still: Last Days of Summer, dir. Stenzin Tankong.
