A marriage proposal during an IFFR Surprise Film; a mother who gave birth to her daughter on the Opening Night of IFFR 1993; an enthusiastic volunteer who unknowingly sent Sebastian Koch out of the cinema at the premiere of Das Leben der Anderen (2006); a mislaid Tiger Award. Just a few of the anecdotes audiences and filmmakers have shared with the festival to mark IFFR’s 50th anniversary.
In the form of fifty short videos, IFFR Plays Back ◀◀ presents a selection of these cheerful, crazy and exceptional stories. In 25 ‘Rotterdam Testimonials’, visitors and volunteers recall their memories of the festival. The 25 ‘Tiger Testimonials’ have been made by winners of the Tiger Competition about their festival experience in the year they took home a Tiger Award.
Watch the videos and explore the story of 50 years of IFFR at IFFR.com/playsback or IFFR’s social media, as well as on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. With thanks to Stadsarchief Rotterdam for including the ‘Rotterdam Testimonials’ in its archive.
