The shots of timeless landscapes and sleepy suburbs in Armour often last mere seconds. Sporadically employed title cards help them coalesce into the tale of a man who threatens to lose control of his life. While his father lays dying and his girlfriend has just left him, taking their 11-year-old son, Hector wanders across town and through the surrounding nature dressed in a suit of armour and numbed by alcohol.

The uncaring backdrop to his drunken odyssey reflects the alienation Hector is experiencing. There's an atmosphere of impending doom in the footage filmmaker Sandro Aguilar shot in the nature-rich environs of Rimouski in eastern Quebec – images that he is careful not to aestheticize. The brief annotations indicating location act like notes in a photo album, but are also subtle references to what is fermenting and smouldering under the skull of his unfathomable lead.
