Latifa, le coeur au combat

French-Moroccan Latifa lost her son, a French soldier, in the 2012 terrorist attack in Toulouse. Instead of giving in to despair, this unleashed an unsuspected strength in her. She tries to fill the inner void by devoting herself to young people in the banlieues, in the hope of preventing future attacks. She is now a public figure with her own foundation, working for young people and peace.

This topical, observational documentary follows her as she travels the length and breadth of France to tell her story and engage people in dialogue. Inevitably this involves discussing current problems concerning integration, racism, equal opportunities, separation of church and state – and of course Islam. The camera is given free access, also behind the scenes. Latifa is at her best encouraging young adults, telling them to believe in themselves – a message many of them really seem to appreciate.
