After a near-death experience, the scientist Dr. Sheri Myes gets to see a different side of life. She becomes convinced that humans only use a fraction of their senses and decides to investigate what we can borrow from the animal kingdom. The guinea pig? Dr. Myes herself. The university thinks her research is too extreme and sacks her. But 'surrender' isn’t in Meys’ dictionary; she slowly changes into a strange creature with super-senses. However, she can’t ignore the severe side-effects...
In this hybrid film story, filmmaker and animator Nancy Andrews mixes the horror genre with comedy and musical. She based this original story of a lonely visionary on her experimental short Behind the Eyes Are the Ears (2010). The result is a cinematographic marriage between ‘mad-scientist’ Hollywood dramas from the 1930s and juicy B-films from the 1960s - with an eccentric strong female scientist as protagonist, for a change.
