THE BIBLE is a captivating, dynamic montage of animation, news footage and music, using the Old Testament as a source. Hartung investigates his personal experiences with evangelicalism and a broader cultural familiarity with biblical violence. He splices stop-motion animation of hand-constructed collages and assemblages with news footage. The result is a highly original film that ranges from sequences of terrible violence to nearly abstract scenes of hallucinogenic beauty.
