Ma belle gosse

Seventeen-year-old Maden spends the summer in her family's holiday home with her (half-) brothers and sisters. The days pass in lazy peace and quiet, with games, visits to the beach and secret bunkers in the dunes, lounging in the garden and the usual family quarrels born of petty squabbling.
It slowly becomes clear that the maturing young woman is conducting a romantic correspondence with a much older, male inmate of a nearby prison. Initially, only her half-brother Vadim knows about this, but it is not long before everyone is aware of it. This raises tensions and acts as a catalyst for simmering irritations.
The natural way this film comes across is aided by the use of a hand-held camera, filming with existing light and sound only, and the natural performances of the child actors in particular, whose ages range from five to seventeen years.
