'Skeletons in the cupboard' is an expression that does not generally have to be taken literally. The characters in Skeletons do have to when they decide to clean up and literally to clear their cupboard of its secrets. They are faced by fairly embarrassing surprises, hilarious for the viewer. The two exorcists, played by the comic duo Andrew Buckley and Ed Gaughan, both have their own problems. Davis is addicted to charging about in the past, while Bennett isn't very good at defending himself. When they come across a complex case in which the 'skeletons' seem to have hidden themselves away, Bennett increasingly takes over running the show, however. They continue to stay with the mother, her little boy and the very strange teenage daughter. Alongside Paprika Steen (the mother), Nick Whitfield, who was making his debut with this original black comedy, also managed to involve Jason Isaacs as the extremely disturbed boss of Davis and Bennett.
