After the death of his father, Tako, who has previously lived in the big city, decides to return to Den Oever to take over the family bicycle shop. He marries his childhood sweetheart Sandra, and they lead an apparently happy and normal life together. When Sandra becomes pregnant, everything turns out to be churning up under the surface. Sandra's eating disorder (she is obsessed by her appearance and even ended up in hospital as an adolescent) comes to the fore. Tako fears for the health of his unborn child and loses sight of his own boundaries in his attempts to get Sandra to be reasonable.
Sander Burger (Olivier etc.), who has more often worked with the actors Dragan Bakema and Maria Kraakman, made Hunting & Sons as a film about the other side of respectable Dutch society, in which somebody regularly succumbs to the demands placed on modern people .
