The influential collective Metamkine was founded in 1987 and came from Grenoble, France. Using mirrors, music and several projectors, they managed to put together a unique live performance each time, in which the sound enters into a confrontation with the image, without being subservient to it. Manipulating the Revox tape recorders and analogue synthesisers is Jérôme Noetinger, who manages to improvise an exciting electroacoustic sound landscape. Christophe Auger and Xavier Quérel are responsible for the image and manipulate the 16mm projectors using filters and visual tricks. This leads to a stimulating form of live improvised cinema. The presenters are not hidden, but take a prominent place in the project, like musical instruments, and the film collective is the band.
