The Videofreex were a collective of artists and activists operating a weekly broadcast from a home-built television station in upstate New York from the early 1970s to 1978. In 2000, the Videofreex transferred the bulk of the total holdings of nearly 1,000 titles, mostly on 1/2″ open-reel tapes, to the Video Data Bank, since which time a preservation and archiving programme has been under way. This stirring excerpt from the collection features on-street interviews with participants and observers of the first women’s liberation demonstration in New York City, in 1970. Presented by Video Data Bank, Chicago.
