The short synopsis of La peau trouée as described by the makers themselves is: 'Five fishermen go fishing for sharks. A brightly coloured tale that questions our relationship with animality.' An accurate description. The fishermen on l'île d'Yeu make their preparations and say goodbye to their family. Their cutter Le Mirador sets sail and heads for the Irish Sea for several days. Then the hooks and bait go overboard. When the waiting is suddenly over, the unequal battle between man and shark starts. Without a word too many, in a clear, impressive, meditative way, La peau trouée tells us something inexpressible about our relationship with nature. Among its awards, the Prix regards neufs at the Visions du réel Festival in Nyon.
