Graham Gussin's work deals with notions of the uncanny and the sublime. Gussin uses film as material and reference and is interested in how filmic images and ideas spill out into reality and occupy space in our subconscious. Through his use of science fiction titles, film scenes or pieces of dialogue, Gussin explores or fuses together ideas about landscape, translation and movement. The viewer often plays a vital role when encountering the work as, to complete the picture, we project our own experiences and information on what we see and hear. But how should we react to a face with such enormous pupils, like black holes?
