In his fifth feature, larded with warm yet occasionally sarcastic humour, Stuhr again reveals himself to be a master in depicting the everyday cares of the ordinary man. After 17 years away, having fled the communist regime, Jozef Koziol (Jerzy Stuhr himself) happens to find himself back with his family. In the meantime, the world and his family situation have changed dramatically. His wife has remarried a rich businessman and his children have grown up. His son (Stuhr's real son) is building a political career, his eldest daughter is starring in a reality-TV show and the youngest spends most of the time on the Internet. Jozef is determined to win back his family and provide his children with a good example, better late than never. As this noble endeavour is not greeted warmly, Jozef feels forced to adopt rather less orthodox tactics. The tragi-comic result of his good intentions is that he manages to land the whole family in hospital. The gap between parents who grew up in communist Poland and their children who are used to high-speed technological developments is almost unbridgeable, according to Stuhr. But instead of lying down and accepting this, Stuhr wants to find an answer. It's just like the weather: we don't have it under control, but we can always hope it'll be better tomorrow.
