El delantal de Lili (the apron of Lili) is the love story of Ramon and his wife Lili. After working for eight years as a chef in a restaurant, Ramon is dismissed. It can be blamed on his own stubbornness, but he is a good chef, so why shouldn't he find a new job? However the economic crisis intervenes and the quality of life of him and his family does not improve. Meanwhile, Lili gets depressed by all the misery, certainly when the house for which they have faithfully paid their mortgage repayments for years is in danger of being repossessed. But then a solution turns up by chance. In order to recover from her breakdown, Lili leaves to stay with her family in the countryside and Ramon manages to get a job as a maid servant with a rich family by pretending to be a woman. This leads to the necessary confusion, jealousy and kidnapping, but the love between Ramon and Lili can cope with everything. The boundary of what can be regarded as satire is different every day in a dismantled country like Argentina, that much is clear in El delantal de Lili. In occasionally very short scenes, Galperin manages to sketch an inevitable, universal parable about social disintegration and impoverishment. A beautifully edited and acted film, that convincingly manages to present unlikely events as part of everyday life.
