In this charming roadmovie, three inhabitants of a small village in Patagonia travel to the big city. With an enchanting simplicity and humour, the film reflects their individual vicissitudes in the dusty steppes of Patagonia.Don Justo (80) leaves his family's house in secret at night, after he has heard that his missing dog has been seen in another town. He hitches a ride to find his pet. Roberto, a travelling salesman, wants to seduce a widow by surprising her on her child's birthday with a birthday cake. On the way, the controlfreak doesn't make a single decision without first consulting his selfhelp books. The young woman Maria is on her way to the recording of a game show for which she has been selected as a candidate. Her great dream is to win a kitchen mixer oblivious to the fact that she doesn't have any electricity in her shanty house. The script came about around the personalities and experiences of local inhabitants who also play in the film. Only two of the actors are professionals. The loose, improvised film style, with two 16mm cameras used, made it possible for both the protagonists and the colourful individuals they meet on their way to act freely and informally.
