Nine people tell an anecdote, tall story or dramatic narrative straight into the camera. In Portraits filmés, the film maker had fourteen friends and acquaintances tell a story without intervention, but for this film, the stories were rewritten and the tone of the recitation was more practised. Any spontaneity that was lost, was compensated for by a restraint that mainly gives the tragic stories an element of unreality and certainly also of humour.
