Expulsion from Paradise

A very metaphorical feature film by a truly veteran film maker. The film is about a film production largely set on the Paradiso nudist beach. The production does not go at all smoothly. Those involved all have their own ideas about the end product they want to make. The director thinks he is working on a rather experimental and dramatised documentary about the question of how different the naked person is from the ape (based on Desmond Morris' famous book). The extras are nudists who are attracted by curiosity, money or exhibitionism. The project is financed by the Russian nouveauriche producer Igor. In his naïveté, he believes that the filmmaker's philosophical considerations can be put aside and he can make a titillating comedy about nudists. Clashes, disagreements and rivalries eventually lead to a dramatic chaos on the nudist beach. In this fleshy farce, the filmmaker has visualised in a more than original way her favourite themes of moral freedom and the quest for the meaning of one's life. Clashes between the wayward yet also pampered filmmaker, the ponderous yet farfromstupid producer and the many stars and starlets are not just a metaphor for the difficulties of interhuman intercourse, but also a concrete satire on the business of making films.
