Glutonisity involves us in the dynamic of a nocturnal scene with several demonstrators, uniformed policeman and passers-by. What at first looks like a confrontation, becomes less clear when the different groups adopt each other's behaviour and totally confusing when several people start making impossible movements that influence our experience of balance. Aernout Mik (1962) lives and works in Amsterdam. Working with installations that merge the realms of sculpture, architecture, video and performance, Mik develops strange, hallucinatory scenarios mixing filmed time with real time and into which the spectator is drawn in an almost physical relationship with the video images. Mik represented Holland at recent Venice and Melbourne Biennales and has participated in many group shows, including 'Glad IJs' at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam (1999) and 'Still Moving' in the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto (2000).
