In this interactive musical artwork, music and pictures mingle. By manipulating objects and images on the computer screen, the user generates MIDI code, that takes care of the melody, harmony and rhythm. The software is used here as a music instrument. The sound produced is not determined by chance circumstances but reflects the visual concept of what the user has arranged on the screen. Small Fish has the aim of achieving a synthesis in modern art history, painting and music. It looks as if the interactive painting about which Kandinski dreamed a hundred years ago has been realised.
