Ana does something that most people have private fantasies about, but which is almost always rejected as unethical: she opens a letter addressed to her husband. Until then she has always led a carefree life. She runs a shop for interiors and is happy with her husband Luis and her son Tomy. But her deed born of curiosity - just have a look in that scented envelope - will change her life for ever. The letter reveals that her husband maintains a second family in Río Escondido, a small village in Mendoza, the most western province of Argentina. Consumed by uncertainty, she makes an excuse and leaves for Río Escondido to see her husband's second life with her own eyes. The journey is difficult and she reaches her destination filled with remorse. What she finds in the village is not what she expected. There is another woman and child, but conditions are very different from what she imagined. In fact her impetuous journey is a first step to a new and unstable destiny. The first feature by Mercedes García Guevara has the well-known stage actress Paola Krum as a wonderful leading lady. The director made very effective use in Río Escondido (Spanish for 'lost river') of the Argentine landscape, in which the modern urban Ana seems to get lost.
