It can get pretty scary if you activate the programme Discoder and type in the address of a familiar web site. What you get to see looks no different from what you would see if you downloaded a nasty virus. Yet the misery is not that bad. The disorder to the HTML code of the relevant web site – because that is what the program does: mess around with the meta-structure of the net – turns out to hide more systematic elements in it than you would think at first sight. In addition, the result looks wonderful – they are clearly graphic artists who turned to programming. And it is completely innocent.
