Jackie Chan came, saw and was conquered two years ago at the Rotterdam festival. So later that year he came back to the Port to shoot Who Am I? Then the most popular actor in the world rushed over to the States. The result was the enormous summer hit Rush Hour. Jackie Chan who, as always, does his own stunts in this raging action comedy, was linked to the black actor Chris Tucker (Money Talks, Jackie Brown).Chan plays inspector Lee, the only man who is considered able to get Juntao, a powerful Hong Kong crime lord. With the aid of the Chinese consul in Hong Kong, Lee has already been very successful in combatting the crime cartel, but Juntao is still free and also wants his revenge. When the daughter of the consul is kidnapped in the streets of Los Angeles, Lee iscalled in. But the local police is of course not interested in a nosy outsider and puts James Carter (Tucker) onto the case. He starts out enthusiastically, until he finds out that he is expected to play babysitter to Lee. Carter is just as arrogant, ad rem as street-wise, and tries to solve the case on his own. But he soon sees that he has rather underestimated his Hong Kong colleague and the dangers that face him.'Rush Hour is a righteous title for an action comedy and that's only the beginning.'
