Nic is a film about death - about the death of love, of dignity and last but not least the death of a person. A mother of three children, who lives in the isolation of her everyday life, hides the fact that she is pregnant again. She is afraid to lose the man she loves, her husband. Another mouth to feed. She is at a dead end and everything she undertakes to solve her problems goes wrong. When she realises that another life, another world, might exist, it is too late.Nic has a special narrative style: A realistic story in which the 'action' actually only takes place between the two partners, indoors, shot in artificial Cinemascope and with camera work and decor that evokes a mysterious, alienating and claustrophobic mood. Children in Kedzierszawska's films always have a special place, and here too their presence is verynatural and informal. In 1995 Rotterdam screened her impressive Wrony/Crows, a simple story about loneliness and children's dreams.
