Regional feature with an uninhibited use of digital animation and editing techniques. Beekman consciously wanted to break free of the narrative style of traditional cinema films and sought a form that meshed with the visual language of commercials, music videos, comic strips, TV leaders and computer games: Promo-video cutting with acceleration, deceleration and jump cuts.Alongside the nonchalant and hence charming use of new techniques, much of the film's appeal is thanks to its improvised acting and approach. The leading roles are acted disarmingly with panache. The many non-professional supporting roles hardly have an impact on the film's pace. The film was largely shot on the rooves of Groningen and starts on an ordinary morning. Soon everyone is running in time with the clock and playing by the rules of the game. Protagonist Tomwakes from a nightmare, breaks up with his girlfriend as if in a dream and forces his own dismissal. He decides to start a new and free life on the rooftops of the city. However he is thwarted in a tragi-comic way by his affection for the archeologist Jenneke and by his old friend Allan, who is desperately trying to keep his head above water in society. It isn't easy to break all links with the urban ground level and seek it higher up.
