DHS stands for Dimensional Holophonic Sound and is a one-man project by Ben Stokes, music-video director with the innovative collective H-Gun. Stokes started about four years ago with DHS, inspired by the acid-house scene in Chicago. His instrument is the sampler, but Stokes also uses 'old' techniques like the cassette tape - because of the nice old-fashioned sound. The resulting electronic dance music does not sound smooth, but has several layers with occasionally alienating sounds. 'Sound and technology are what it comes down to with DHS, not making a nice-sounding dance-track', according to Stokes. Nevertheless, one of the first numbers by DHS, House of God, became a worldwide club hit. Stokes performs with Jack Dangers (alias Meat Beat Manifesto).
