Celluloid Blues is an offbeat comedy, set in one day, about an old fashioned film critic and his attempts to interview a young actress. Frans Jaarsma has been a film critic for a daily newspaper a little too long. He is in his mid-fifties, divorced and reserved. He does not pay much attention to his appearance, far from smooth journalist. But he is good critic who provides good copy, Frans lives for his films and espacially for the classics by the greats from film history. That is exactly what worries his his new young boss: he is too interested in old fogies. The paper is having a face-lift and Frans has to join in or lose his job. Jaarsma thus sets out against his wishes to write a piece about a new Dutch low-budget film by a talented young director, with a young Dutch international star playing the lead. Julia Delano has made her career in American and Italian porn and has returned to her homeland for her first serious role. The ageing film critic does his utmost to to get an interview with the capricious director. When that fails, he turns to the actress, who also has other things on her mind.
