Summer in San Lorenzo in Patagonia. Mario, a young engineer from the big city, arrives at the same time as a flight of flamingos in this village near the end of the world. This is his first visit to the collection of peeling houses and cobbled roads. For the local people, Mario's arrival is more or less the event of the year. He has been commissioned by the government to search for a land route for the transport of pleasure yachts from San Lorenzo to an inland lake. The project looks like a significant economic impulse and a break from the everyday monotony. After the enthusiastic welcome, the cordiality of the people cools when Mario helps an Indian woman in her quest for her missing father. The most influential villagers hinder his investigation and Mario starts to believe that premeditated murder is involved.Director Ciro Cappellari shot his Sin querer in the village Jacobacci, about 1500 kilometres south west of Buenos Aires. He once spent his youth there and was able to count on the exuberant co-operation of the local people. In Cappellari's film Jacobacci (previously described by Paul Theroux and Bruce Chatwin) grows, with its rough edges, into a mystery reminiscent of Bogdanovich' The Last Picture Show.
