The son of Martín Echenique, an Argentine director who has lived in Madrid for about twenty years, had inherited the same name as his father, but everyone calls him Hache ('H' for hijo, son). Hache (19) lives in Buenos Aires with his mother. Instead of working or studying, he prefers to spend his time playing the guitar in the street. One day on the street, he barely survives a massive dose of drink and drugs. His mother, who puts all her energy into the younger children, doesn't take any notice of this. Her new husband thinks it was a suicide attempt and sends Hache to his father in Madrid. There Hache meets Alicia, the dedicated lover of his not-very-communicative father, and the gay actor Dante, his father's best friend. The uncompromising father Martín does not have much patience with the exuberance of his lover and the hedonism of his bosom buddy. He doesn't want anything to do with the personal emotions of the people he loves. All three of them try to protect Hache from too much despair and idleness, but in the meantime, they do not see what goes wrong between themselves.Borne by the acting, especially that of Federico Luppi as Martín, Martín (Hache) is a dramatic cocktail, brimming with ideas about family and responsibility, security and survival, love and death.
