Cosmos is a modern mosaic of scenes about the big city jungle in the tradition of Paris vu par... and New York Stories. From their individual perspectives, six young directors bring us into contact with human nature. Cosmos, a friendly and philosophical taxi-driver, is the leitmotiv in the story. He is our guide through the world of his customers, listening to them and giving them advice.îL'Individu concentrates on a mysterious stranger who spreads fear in silence. Jules et Fanny is a comic encounter with fate, when former lovers happen across each other after five years. Le Technétium invites us into the ultra-trendy world of the media, via the young, nervous film-maker Morille. Aurore et Crépuscule presents a charming portrait of a young woman who is left in the lurch on her birthday by her boyfriend. In Boost two friends find out that ignorance can be bliss. Finally, Cosmos et Agriculture provides a detailed picture of Cosmos and his mate Janvier who chat in the local delicatessen, while a bunch of crooks steal Cosmos' car to rob a bank. This omnibus film has been praised for its refreshing look at film and characters and the sophisticated, angular black & white photography of co-director André Turpin. The urbane energy of the location, Montreal, is catching.
