Ing K. and Brian Bennett provide in this cool, clear documentary a different view on the Cambodian tragedy that we usually see in the West. They undermine the classical stereotypes of the demonic Red-Khmer crooks and the peace-making heroes of the United Nations - resulting in a tragi-comic picture verging on the absurd. The film tries to avoid simple ethical judgements and is considerably more alarming that what is shown about Cambodia on television. Possibly the most shocking encounter is that with Dr Haing Ngor, actor and hero of The Killing Fields. Ing K. knew him from years ago, from the refugee camps. Now he is busy cutting down forests in the name of 'economic development'.
