Spontaneous independent film about rock 'n roll, skateboards and how it feels to lose your girlfriend. In thisromantic comedy, director Okazaki follows the amusing romantic path, sometimes filled with suffering, of four young people: Lisa, Devon, Adam and Jimbo. The latter three are in a band that plays loud pretty punk-oriented music.Lead-singer Devon meets Lisa who, dressed as Santa Claus, is collecting money for a good cause. He immediately falls for this 'smartest & most attractive anarcho-socialist hippy¬punker'. But one day Lisa dumps Devon. He is devastated, doesn't come out of his room and the band threatens to fall apart. And Jimbo is having a hard time too: he hates his job, his girlfriend hates him and he is starting to go bald. Lastly, Adam is a darling but very shy, madly in love with Winona Ryder and desperately looking for a girlfriend. The Lisa Theory is a fine portrait of a lost generation that still wants to make something of life; subjective, adolescent, naïve, sometimes maudlin but always fascinating. The music prominently present in the film is played by the best and loudest that San Francisco has to offer at the moment: All You Can Eat, Ovarian Trolley, Clockbrains, Unrest, Her Majesty The Baby and Less Is Moore.
