Trilogy about the life of young people in Havana; a ‘small’ film, associative in character with a loose structure and hardly any dialogues.I Love You and I’ll Take You to the Movies is based on poems and stories about the fears that dominate Havana in the eighties; you could also describe the film as an investigation into the meaning of doubt. The stories encompass both the ultimate high-points and the depths of despair of the eighties.Director Ricardo Vega: ‘Seven years: a magic number, but it is a long time to pass before I could complete the film. All that time I was able to think about all kinds of things as I called “action”; or I withdrew into a foetal position to think.Whatever, completing this film was a rebirth for me in my own era. I want my film to characterise the mystery that is reality for me, with all its violence, intelligence, humanity and poetry.’
