Little Dreams is a film about war and about how war destroys the hope, dreams and life of a generation. It is about the generation which once placed its trust in its leader Gamal Abdel Nasser, who promised a rapid victory in the 1967 war. What followed was a gruesome war between Israel and Egypt, and the destruction that accompanied it passed the misery on to future generations. In 1967, 13-year-old Ghareeb lives with his mother; his father died in the Suez war of 1956. Ghareeb needs a father figure and Nasser fits the bill. He joins the army and is convinced that victory is close at hand. The film was shot entirely on location in the director's birthplace, Suez, with the cooperaiton of hundreds of local extras and volunteers.
