Internship Hubert Bals Fund
Each year, International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) welcomes new and established filmmakers from all over the world. The festival offers a platform for independent film, talks, exhibitions, performances and art installations, parties and more. Additionally, we are a festival for cinephiles: our audiences. IFFR registers more than 250,000 admissions during its eleven-day festival in January/February in the port city of Rotterdam. In 2025, the 54th edition of IFFR is set to take place and we are looking for an intern (f/m/x) to join our Hubert Bals Fund team.
Within IFFR, the Hubert Bals Fund (HBF) supports groundbreaking film projects in every stage of the production process, working especially with filmmakers from countries where local film funding and infrastructure is lacking or restrictive. The HBF focuses on supporting filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe; renowned examples include Shahrbanoo Sadat, Pablo Larraín, Kaouther Ben Hania, Kleber Mendonça Filho, Apichatpong Weerasethakul and 2024 Cannes Grand Prix winner Payal Kapadia: a diverse mix of emerging and experienced filmmakers that are shaping the roaring diversity of contemporary world cinema.
As IFFR, HBF strives for a diverse team: a true reflection of the city of Rotterdam and beyond, where everyone is welcome, regardless of their ethnicity, economic or cultural background, religious beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status and whether or not they have a disability. We welcome applications from all who are interested in gaining experience in our organisation.
We are looking for an intern to join our Hubert Bals Fund team (4 days per week)
HBF-supported films are regularly shown at IFFR. Selected filmmakers and their teams are celebrated as examples of HBF success and impact. Together with the Hubert Bals Fund team, you’ll be responsible for supporting HBF activities during the festival but also cultivating research and organisational skills towards both HBF archives and funding opportunities for HBF. Your work will lead up to a successful presence of HBF films and filmmakers via events and communication materials, but also contribute to the future strategy for the fund. And, last but not least, you will be attending the premieres of HBF-supported films at the festival!
