Coordinator Donations & Private Giving
International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) presents a leading film festival and year-round programme. We support new and adventurous filmmaking talent, also beyond the screening room, through initiatives such as CineMart, the Hubert Bals Fund, Rotterdam Lab and other industry activities.
In January each year, we bring together emerging and established filmmakers and artists from around the world to showcase a visionary programme of independent films, talks, exhibitions, performances, installations, immersive media and more. IFFR attracts over 300,000 visits to screenings and events annually. We also organise a range of film-related activities throughout the year, with our Filmclub and other collaborations with Rotterdam-based partners.
None of this would be possible without the people who choose to support us. Our private donors help keep the festival running, which is why we’re looking for a Coordinator Donations & Private Giving to support us in maintaining and growing this community.
About the role
The Coordinator Donations & Private Giving coordinates IFFR’s private fundraising and manages relationships with our donors. You’ll work on growing our donor base, keep donors engaged and come up with new, creative ways to involve the people who support IFFR. You’ll be part of the Funding & Business Growth team and report to the Chief of Funding & Business Growth.
-
What will you do?
As Coordinator Donations & Private Giving, you:
- Develop and implement IFFR’s private funding plan for donations and private givers, in line with the team strategy. You’ll work closely with the Chief of Funding & Business Growth to execute the annual development plan.
- Build and maintain lasting relationships with donors, private givers and stakeholders, based on trust and appreciation, to grow an engaged community around the festival.
- Develop and execute the annual communication plan for supporters and donors, and create the content that goes with it: newsletters, surveys, event invitations and more, keeping supporters informed throughout the year.
- Identify new fundraising opportunities in private giving, using our database and market research, and translate these into private funding plans and campaigns that grow and retain supporters.
- Manage the CRM system to a high standard, keeping relationships, workflows and reporting accurate and GDPR-compliant.
- Write tailored donor proposals and coordinate events and experiences with a focus on engagement and recognition.
- Coordinate and co-manage the partner relations list and invitations for key festival moments (Opening, Closing, special events), making sure the logistics run smoothly.
-
Who are you?
Our donors give to IFFR because they care about the festival. You help them feel seen and valued. That requires empathy, and it takes someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships.
You also bring:
- Strong writing skills. Newsletters and invitations should have a personal touch and tone.
- Ownership and initiative. You don’t wait for instructions – you manage your own workload and pick things up yourself.
- A creative, analytical mind. You can read data, frame a problem and come up with solutions.
- Strong organisational skills. You multitask, manage your time and stay on top of things when a lot is happening at once.
- Excellent written and spoken Dutch and English.
- A HBO or university-level education, ideally with a business or cultural-sector background. Experience with donations or fundraising in another sector is also welcome.
- Confidence with the Microsoft Office suite including Excel, and a willingness to learn new systems. Experience with a CRM system such as Salesforce is a plus.
-
What do we offer?
- A dynamic, international workplace at one of Europe’s leading film festivals.
- A meaningful role with real ownership: you shape how IFFR engages its private donors.
- This is a year-round role of roughly four days a week (0.8 FTE), to be discussed. We would like you to start as soon as possible.
- Salary in accordance with scale 6 of the Ketentafel Filmfestivals: €3,077 to €3,644 gross per month based on full-time employment (to confirm from the Ketentafel salary table). Placement within this range depends on relevant experience.
- The working language in the organisation is English.
