The sun shines, the nature is stunningly beautiful and they have more than enough to discuss; basically nothing can mess up this hiking and camping trip taken by forty-somethings Ella and Nell, who haven’t seen each other for a very long time. But once they reach the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic, it becomes apparent that an enormous chasm has grown between the friends from Berlin in recent years, formed by long-standing pain, fear and shame. At first their quarrels are small and insignificant, about the route they should take and the bombastic title of Nell’s thesis. But finally the crucial question comes up: where was Ella when Nell was admitted to a psychiatric clinic? Making her debut, Aline Chukwuedo repeatedly puts her two protagonists – subtly played by Stefanie Petrowitz and Kirsten Schlüter – in uneasy situations that are both tragic and comic, depending on the perspective you choose.
