Tamar Shavgulidze

Tamar SHAVGULIDZE (1980, Georgia) studied at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgian State University in Tbilisi. Tamar is a a writer director whose debut feature Born in Georgia (2011) premiered at the Tbilisi Film Festival in 2011. In 2019, she wrote and directed her second feature Comets (2019) for which she received an APSA nomination for Best Screenplay. The film premiered at Toronto IFF in the Discovery competition, at Museum of Moving Images NY, Prague IFF- International Competition, Queer Lisboa 24 and many other international film festivals. Next to her two features Tamar directed several short films.
