Nihaarika Negi
Nihaarika NEGI is an Indian interdisciplinary artist working internationally. She trained as a writer, director and performer under master practitioner Phillip Zarrilli. Negi uses contemporary performance/live art and narrative storytelling to create theatre shows, participatory workshops, immersive performances, films and VR projects that place the notions of intimacy and vulnerability at the centre of the experience, as well as giving attention to marginalised voices. Her work in film and theatre has been described as “revelatory and thoroughly riveting” (Laurence Kardish, MoMA) and “stands at the cusp of what could be an artistic breakthrough for Indian theatre” (The Hindu). Her interdisciplinary work earned her the prestigious XR Market Award at the New Images XR Festival (Paris) and has been supported by Sundance Institute’s programme Women in Film, Venice Film Festival Development Labs, UK Arts Council, French Ministry of Culture – CNC, SPILL Festival, Roundhouse Theatre, Battersea Arts Center, Camden People’s Theatre (UK), Prithvi Theatre, Serendipity Arts Festival and NFDC Film Labs (India).
